What is an abstract painting from an artist's view and why do people paint them? The dictionary defintion I have found of abstract art does not seem to say much so here is one explanation that might help someone to understand at least one artist's thoughts about this subject.
Abstract art, to me, is art that takes an interesting part of an object or concept and showing appreciation for or pondering upon that interesting part by painting it. It could be painted either similarly to the actual part of the object or concept or other influences of creativity in the artist's life could be added to it. It may also involve the artist's interest and wishing to share that interest in certain color combinations, shapes and painting processes or other techniques involving God given creativity.
